Rough draft
My theme in ceramics is to make my projects have a very earthy feel to them. I show my theme by making my projects have very defined edges and lines to make them look very natural. I use the small loop tool to make the defined edges that i previously mentioned. I think that one of my best examples of how my theme is shown is present in my set of three project.
Each of the individual cups represents a different kind of earth tone. How i did this was by making the edges have different patterns with different amounts of smoothness. I then use three very earth tone glazes like Italian straw, shadow green, and different shades of red. after the initial firing i will then apply a second coat to make it have somewhat of a glossy appearance. Some art elements that i used while making my set of tree project were color, shape and form. I used color by making each individual cup have a different pattern. The way that i used shape was by giving them different heights and widths. For example one of the cups was considerably taller than the other two.
I have chosen the theme of earth relativity because i think it emphasizes how there is a natural process in ceramics. My theme goes as far from making the projects look very simple to having very rough outer edges to give it a kind of rocky feel. It is not only the outside of my projects that show the earth tones but also the inside. For example i might make the inside have a pattern or a different texture than the rest of the project. I think that simplistic projects are more easily connected with in terms of visually seeing the different art elements that were incorporated into the project.
I think that i accurately illustrate my theme of my projects through making them look very simplistic. I appreciate the feel of very simplistic pottery to that of very elaborate artwork. I think that I have shown my theme very accurately in my set of three project because of the art elements that i used while making it.

Theme essay
My theme in ceramics is to make my projects have a good overall form. I like the look and feel of a project that has a good form. Form is a very important part to artwork and i achieve this by smoothing all of my projects with a rib tool to make them have very defined shape. I think that one of my best examples of this was demonstrated through my second extra credit bowl.
The bowl has very smooth edges and has a very wide symmetrical opening. I think that this also shows form because it makes the bowl have very good shape. Color was another very large part of making the project have form because it is a simple glaze that I think complements the project very well. The green with the accent of the yellow hue makes the bowl have distinctive form because it makes it almost have a pearlecent appearance. Some art elements that i used were color and shape because they are the two very defining elements of the project. I think that the form of this project is very clearly visible because of these outlying features.
I have chosen the my overall theme to be form because i think that that most of my projects clearly emphasize this feature. Form is shown in many of my projects weather it be how smooth the project is or how symmetrical it is. Form is important to me because i think that it is the single most important piece of a project when it comes to it becoming a finished product.
I think that I accurately demonstrate my theme through my projects because of the way that i emphasize the art elements that make up form. My second extra credit bowl most accurately shows my theme because of the art elements that i used while making it. I plan on continuing to incorporate my them of form throughout my projects as the semester progresses.
