Bowl number one
This is the first picture in the gallery. So for a picture please look there.
Wheel bowl number one paragraph.
This is a medium sized bowl with nice contours and a smooth surface. It is an overall brown color with patches that are lighter than others. A new skill that i learned while making this bowl was a better way of footing. The foot ring on this bowl is very unique. An art element used for this project was texture because i went out of my way to make this bowl as smooth as possible. A design element that I used for this project is balance because it has a relative thickness that is the same throughout the whole project.

Bowl number two
This is my second bowl on the wheel for this semester.
This bowl is very similar looking to my first bowl. It is same in coloration and texture. A new skill that I learned while making this bowl was making the lip of the bowl fold outwards a bit. An art element that I used would have to be contrast because I glazed the outside of the bowl with patches of light brown which contrasts with the dark brown. A design element that i used was form because it leans slightly to one side which gives it an overall interesting form.

Vase
This is my vase project.
This is a small sized project with a shadow green glaze. A new skill that I learned when making this project was using the choking method more effectively. I think that a good art element used in this project would be color because it is a very dark and thick green that shows up very nicely. A design element that i used for this project was texture because this project is very smooth and has no blemishes on it. I think that this project has an earthy feel to it because it is a very earth tone color matching that of a lush grass.

Cup
This is my cup and it is a medium sized project. Overall it is very smooth with very gentle contours. A new skill that i learned while making this project was using the detailing glazes because on the inside of the bowl there is white lines made with said glazes. An art element that I used while making this project was color because there is two different colors. With the art element being color, and the main color being blue i think that it gives off a kind of marine or oceanic idea.
Choice
This is my choice project and it is a medium to medium large project with a very symmetric form. A new skill that i learned while making this project was making a unique foot ring with with a large divot. An art element that i used was shape because it is very symmetric on all sides. I think that with the skill that I learned and the art element that I used the project expresses a natural or earthy feel.

Planter
This is my planter project. It is of medium size and coupled with Italian straw glaze. A new skill that i learned while making this project was how to foot a planter because it is a little bit different from footing a bowl or cup. An art element that I used was color because when a plant is present in the planter it makes a great contrast between the green and the tan. I think that the project has a very erath tone feel possibly to a desert because it appears like it is made from sand.
Bowl 1 for second semester
This is my first bowl for the second semester and it is of a relatively large size. A new skill that i learned while making this project was how to make the glaze to appear to have a somewhat ashy look. An art element that i used for this bowl was shape because it is very large compared to most of my projects. I think that this project has kind of an urban simplicity to it because of its shape and form.
Bowl 2 for second semester |
This is my second bowl for the second semester and it is a medium size. A new skill that I learned while making this project was how to make a proper bass so that the bowl would be of a correct form. An art element that i used while making this project would defiantly be form because it is very symmetrical in shape. I would say that this project has a very ice like feel to it because of the very ice white color glaze that i used.
Extra credit cup
This is an extra credit project that i made and it is of small size. A new skill that i learned while making this project was a way to alter it with my hands to give it a somewhat of a spiral shape. An art element that i used while making this project would be form because of the unique way that i made it look with the spiral effect. I think that this project has a very earth tone feel to it because of the brown glaze, it makes it look like something that is part of the earth itself.
